The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has decided to raise gold prices once again in the local market. This time, the price of 22-carat gold has been increased by Tk 2,216 per bhori, setting it at Tk 244,711 per bhori.
In a notice issued on Thursday morning (May 7), BAJUS confirmed the new rates, which came into effect at 10:00 AM the same day.
The statement said the price adjustment was made due to the rise in the local market price of refined gold (pure gold), taking the overall situation into consideration.
According to the new price list, 22-carat gold is now priced at Tk 244,711 per bhori (11.664 grams). The prices for other categories are: 21-carat gold at Tk 233,572 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 200,213 per bhori, and traditional gold at Tk 163,063 per bhori.
Earlier, on the morning of May 6, BAJUS had last adjusted gold prices, increasing the rate by Tk 2,158 per bhori. At that time, 22-carat gold was set at Tk 242,495 per bhori. The prices for 21-carat, 18-carat, and traditional gold were Tk 231,472, Tk 198,405, and Tk 161,605 per bhori respectively, effective from 10:00 AM that day.
With this latest adjustment, gold prices in the country have been revised 63 times so far this year, of which 35 times were increases and 28 times were decreases. In 2025, prices were adjusted a total of 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 decreases.
Alongside gold, silver prices have also been increased. The price of 22-carat silver has risen by Tk 117 per bhori, now set at Tk 5,774 per bhori.
Under the new rates, 21-carat silver is priced at Tk 5,540 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk 4,724, and traditional silver at Tk 3,558 per bhori.
So far this year, silver prices have been adjusted 38 times in total, with 21 increases and 17 decreases. In 2025, silver prices were revised 13 times, including 10 increases and 3 decreases.
