Sheikh Rabiul Alam on Monday said the government is planning to build a second Padma Bridge, likely at the Daulatdia-Paturia route.
Speaking after a meeting at the Secretariat on Eid travel preparations, the minister said the feasibility study for the project has already been completed.
He said discussions are now underway regarding financing and other initial preparations for the bridge.
According to the minister, three possible proposals are being considered, with the Daulatdia-Paturia point currently receiving the highest priority.
Officials believe the proposed bridge could help improve communication and reduce traffic pressure on existing routes across the Padma River.
