48,227 Bangladeshi pilgrims reach Saudi Arabia

A total of 48,227 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have so far arrived in Saudi Arabia on 123 flights, according to the Bangladesh Hajj Office.

Director of the Bangladesh Hajj Office Md Lokman Hossain said that 123 Hajj flights had landed in Jeddah by 10:00am today.

According to the latest Hajj bulletin, 10 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died of natural causes so far. Among them, eight were men and two were women. Eight deaths occurred in Makkah and two in Madinah.

The bulletin also stated that Saudi medical teams have automatically provided treatment to 15,814 pilgrims, while the IT Helpdesk has offered medical services to 11,955 pilgrims up to yesterday.

This year, a total of 78,500 Bangladeshis are scheduled to perform Hajj. Of them, 4,565 pilgrims are travelling under government management, while 73,935 are going under private arrangements.

A total of 660 agencies are handling Hajj operations under private management, including 30 lead agencies and 630 coordinating agencies.

According to airline-wise data, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has transported 22,791 pilgrims on 57 flights, Saudi Airlines carried 17,345 pilgrims on 45 flights, and Flynas Airlines flew 8,091 pilgrims on 21 flights.

The remaining 30,145 pilgrims are expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia gradually through the designated airlines.

The first Hajj flight, BG3001, carrying 418 pilgrims, departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah on April 17 at 11:57pm. The flight was inaugurated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Embassy in Dhaka has issued 78,372 Hajj visas so far, including 4,457 under government management and 73,915 under private management.

Subject to moon sighting, the holy Hajj is expected to be held on May 26 in Saudi Arabia.

Return Hajj flights are scheduled to begin on May 30, with the final return flight set for June 30.
