NGO-Microfinance Institution Resourced Pooled Fund has been launched in Bangladesh to improve locally led disaster response and humanitarian assistance activities.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir attended the launching ceremony as the chief guest at a hotel in Dhaka.
Speaking at the event, the minister said cooperation between the government and private organisations is important for ensuring quick and effective humanitarian support in disaster-prone areas.
He said the new fund will help strengthen emergency response activities and improve support for vulnerable communities across the country.
According to the minister, the initiative combines the experience and grassroots networks of local NGOs and microfinance institutions to make humanitarian aid more effective and sustainable.
He also called on all organisations involved to work together for the successful implementation of the programme.
Representatives from international organisations, development partners, NGOs and microfinance institutions attended the event.
