Tarique Rahman on Monday inaugurated a national workshop on higher education at the Senate Bhaban of University of Dhaka.
The workshop, titled “Transforming Higher Education in Bangladesh: Roadmap to Sustainable Excellence”, was organised by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh.
The programme aims to make the country’s higher education system more modern, inclusive and sustainable.
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon and the Prime Minister’s education adviser Mahdi Amin also attended the opening session.
Vice-chancellors, teachers, researchers, policymakers, diplomats and representatives from different sectors joined the event.
Several technical sessions will be held during the workshop focusing on issues including graduate employability, artificial intelligence, digital education, teacher training, research quality and institutional reforms.
Officials said recommendations from the workshop will help prepare a future policy roadmap for improving higher education in Bangladesh and building internationally competitive skilled graduates.
