Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday called for wider use of modern water and wastewater treatment technologies to support sustainable development.
He made the remarks during a meeting at the Secretariat with Shailesh Kumar, chief executive officer of water technology company VA Tech Wabag Limited.
The meeting focused on water management, purification systems and ensuring safe drinking water standards in Bangladesh.
The minister said the government is giving importance to maintaining quality and completing projects on time.
Discussions also covered pollution in the Buriganga River and steps being taken to improve river water quality.
Officials said the government is working on different initiatives to reduce river pollution across the country.
Senior officials from the Local Government Division also attended the meeting.
