Neymar da Silva Santos Junior, or as commonly known as Neymar is one of the most gifted players the world has ever seen. Forbes ranked him as the world’s third highest athlete in 2020. And it makes you wonder- what’s so special about him that makes him worth such big bucks?
Well, if you have watched him play, there really wouldn’t be any doubt in your mind. The Brazilian turned 29 on Friday. He’s already got 596 goals and assists from 615 appearances for club and country. He’s also the second highest scorer of all time for Brazil. Only Pele has more. With 77 goals, Pele leads the list and Neymar follows with 64 goals. But he’s still got a couple of years in him so it’s a fair bet that he’ll get the chance to rewrite history.
With 23 career trophies at the club level and both the gold medal with the Brazilian football side at the 2016 Olympics and a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics, he’s got a decorated career for sure. From Champions league to Laliga, he’s had a colourful run at Barcelona as he was part of that lethal MSN trio.
The Brazilian left winger currently plays for French team Paris Saint Germain and have recently agreed to another 4-year long contract with the French domestic champions. Since arriving at paris on a world-record €222 million deal from Barcelona, Neymar has won three Ligue 1 titles, two Coupes de France, two Coupes de la Ligue and two Trophees des Champions.
Here’s hoping we get more of his skilful and dazzling performances in the years to come.
