Sri Lanka have already posted 414 runs second innings lead on the fourth day in the second and final Test at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
The hosts have scored 172/6 after 39 overs as Niroshan Dickwella (23) and Ramesh Mendis (2) are currently batting at the crease.
Saif Hassan earned an early breakthrough at the start of the day when he removed in-form Dimuth Karunaratne (66) after some wonderful fielding from substitute fielder Yasir Ali. Mehidy Hasan Miraz then chipped in to get rid of another set batsman Dhananjaya de Silva (41) followed by Taijul Islam removing Pathum Nissanka (24).
Earlier on third day, Bangladesh were all out for 251 in their first innings against Sri Lanka losing seven wickets for just 37 runs in their first innings as Sri Lanka spinner Praveen Jayawickrama took six wickets on debut.
Bangladesh were 242 runs behind of Sri Lanka's first innings total of 493 and still 42 runs short from saving the follow on when they were all out but Sri Lanka did not forced follow and came to bat for their second innings instead.
Later Sri Lanka finished the day as 17 for 2 as Bangladesh bowlers took two wickets in short period of time before closing of day's play.
