A young man named Arif Kabir has died after jumping off the roof of a five-star hotel in Chattogram. The incident took place on Monday (November 15) at around 8:50 pm.
Arif, allegedly jumped from the top floor of Radisson Blu Chittagong Bay View, a five-star hotel in Chattogram. According to the police, the youth committed suicide.
The deceased was identified as Arif Kabir, 24, son of Enamul Kabir of Taj Mahal Road in the capital's Mohammadpur area,
Kotwali police inspector Rezaul Karim told the media, "Arif entered Radisson Blu at around 5:15 pm on Monday. He was dining at the restaurant on the 20th floor of the hotel. He abruptly jumped of the 20th floor, without finishing his food. When the police were informed later, we went to the spot of incident. He was rescued at around 10 pm and taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
He further said that Arif's family has been contacted and informed. They have come to Chittagong.
Citing Arif's mother, the police said that Arif left the house on November 9 and never returned. He spoke to them on his mobile phone from time to time but did not reveal his location. The last time he called at 4:00 pm yesterday, and said he would return home very soon.
Police are investigating the cause of death. It was initially reported that Arif had gone to Radisson Blu alone. CCTV footage of the hotel has been collected.
