Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus is scheduled to publicly read the July Proclamation on Tuesday, August 5, at 5:00 PM, at the South Plaza of the National Parliament.
The announcement was confirmed on Monday (August 4) by the Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, in a Facebook post. He also mentioned that Bangladesh Television (BTV) will broadcast the event live.
Earlier, on August 2, Shafiqul Alam stated in another Facebook post that the interim government had finalized the draft of the July Declaration. He wrote: “The interim government has finalized the draft of the July Declaration. On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 5:00 PM, in the presence of all parties to the mass uprising, the July Declaration will be presented to the nation. Further details will be announced shortly.”
The July Declaration has been one of the most discussed topics in Bangladeshi politics since last year’s July uprising.
Marking the first anniversary of the event, the finalized draft of the declaration was recently sent to several political parties, including the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizens Party (NCP), by the interim government.
Prepared under high confidentiality to avoid controversy, the draft declaration contains 26 points.
Notably, it states that the July uprising was triggered by an anti-discrimination student movement—an update from an earlier version, which said the uprising was led by the student movement.
