As plenty of US buyers had to transfer their orders from other South Asian countries due to production disruptions on the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, Bangladesh experienced a growth in the apparel exports.
According to a recent report, Bangladesh has toppled China, Indonesia and Vietnam in terms of growth in apparel exports to the US.
Currently Bangladesh ranks 3rd in the RMG exports to the US, according to Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA).
In comparison to 2020, Bangladesh climbed up approximately 27 percent this year, and yielded $5.7 billion from the US in the first ten months alone.
This growth was recorded in the first ten months of the current year.
China's exports to the US market amounted to $16 billion with a 25% growth, followed by Vietnam 14% and Indonesia 10%, according to the report.
On the other hand, four out of six other top US suppliers registered better growth than Bangladesh.
