The government is planning to roll out Starlink internet connections at 100 schools in the hill districts within the next six months.

The move aims to provide e-learning opportunities and access to modern education for students in the region, state news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) reports.

“This initiative will bring about a technological revolution in education. Students in remote hilly areas will be able to attend online classes conducted by experienced teachers from urban centres, ensuring parity in the quality of education," Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Advisor Supradip Chakma is quoted as saying by BSS.

The technological skills gained by students under the initiative will benefit them in higher education and their professional lives, according to Supradip.

He emphasised the provision of quality education in the hill tracts as one of his main goals.

“We have to compete

. We will not always have a quota. To compete, we have to establish some good schools and colleges in the CHT,” he said.

"My concern is satellite education. For this, hostels have to be built at the Upazila and district levels,” he added.

The advisor also outlined plans to set up an engineering college, a nursing college, hostels, orphanages, and dormitories in the hill districts.
