Dr. Hasan Mahmud, the Foreign Minister, reassured journalists that efforts to rescue the Bangladeshi ship MV Abdullah from Somali pirates are underway through peaceful negotiations, dismissing any notion of a violent operation.
He made these remarks following discussions on the government`s development program in Chittagong district on Saturday.
Emphasizing the significance of the situation, Mahmud highlighted that MV Abdullah, currently held captive off Somalia`s coast, not only carries valuable cargo but also poses a risk due to its flammable coal cargo.
With 23 crew members onboard, the minister stressed the utmost importance of ensuring their safety, emphasizing the necessity of a peaceful resolution. Mahmud expressed confidence in their imminent return to Bangladesh.
