The University of Dhaka has resumed in-person classes and exams on Sunday (October 17) after a one and half a year closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Students and teachers took part in the class physically on the day though classes and examinations were continuing in online method earlier.
ID card and body temperature of the students were checked while the students entered classroom. The students were seen joyous due to the reopening.
According to the decision taken by the university academic council, ‘Loss recovery plan’ will be implemented now for the in-person classes. Under the system, the semester of six month will now be curtailed to four months and a year-long course will fall on eight months. Classes will be taken even on Saturday to complete the syllabus.
“We have devised ‘loss recovery plan’ to overcome the tension over session jam of the students. But, we cannot shrink the syllabus anyhow. We have plans to take extra classes to bridge the gap. The university authorities permitted to take classes on Saturday,” said the University pro-VC (Education) ASM Maksud Kamal.
Meanwhile, the university transports have resumed on Sunday with the reopening of in-person classes.
