Bangladesh has reported another death due to dengue, with the patient passing away between 8:00 am on Saturday, August 16, and 8:00 am on Sunday, August 17. During the same 24-hour period, 466 patients were admitted to hospitals with dengue.
According to the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the country has seen a total of 105 dengue-related deaths this year, with 26,378 patients admitted to hospitals so far.
In August alone, 5,398 people have been hospitalized with dengue, and 22 deaths have been recorded. Currently, 1,262 dengue patients are receiving treatment in various public and private hospitals across the country, including 410 in Dhaka and 852 in other divisions.
Monthly hospitalization data from DGHS shows that 1,161 patients were admitted in January, 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, 1,773 in May, 5,951 in June, and 10,684 in July. Corresponding death figures were 10 in January, three in February, seven in April, three in May, 19 in June, and 41 in July.
The health authorities continue to urge the public to take precautions to prevent mosquito breeding and reduce the risk of dengue infection.
