Elon Musk, announced the name of the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Twitter. Linda Yaccarino, former head of advertising at NBC Universal, will lead the site, overseeing business operations.
Yesterday he announced the name of this woman in the top position of Twitter. Musk brought a new face to the post nearly six months after the much-discussed acquisition of the microblogging site. He was handling this responsibility till now.
In a tweet, Elon Musk said, "I am very pleased to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter. From now on, Linda will oversee all of Twitter`s commercial operations. I will look at Twitter`s product design and new technologies."
Although it will take another month and a half for Linda to join the new position, this announcement will give confidence to various stakeholders in the service, including advertisers, according to the report of the US daily, Washington Post.
Linda Yaccarino joined NBCUniversal in 2011 after nearly two decades at Turner Broadcasting Corporation. She oversaw the launch of `Peacock`, the company`s ad-supported live streaming service at NBCUniversal, and the broadcast of live events such as the Super Bowl and the Olympic Games. Along with that, Linda has also worked in various technology companies including Snapchat, YouTube and Twitter.
Her previous positions included maintaining close relationships and collaborations with major brands, finding product promotion opportunities and persuading them to advertise on television shows.
The BBC noted that Iaccarino has a deep knowledge of advertising that Twitter will benefit from. His experience is probably what Twitter needs most. All of Twitter`s revenue comes from advertising, and since Elon Musk took over, that revenue dropped significantly.
