The price of jet fuel for both domestic and international flights has been increased, Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced on Wednesday.

According to the new rates, effective from midnight tonight, jet fuel for domestic flights will cost BDT 99.62 per liter, while international flights will be charged 6,502 cents per liter.

Previously, the price for domestic flights was BDT 98.02 per liter, and for international flights, it was 6,401 cents per liter.

Earlier, the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) set prices for jet fuel and other petroleum products.

However, starting earlier this year, BERC has taken over the authority to determine the prices of all fuels and electricity in the country, in accordance with the law.

Some foreign airlines have expressed concerns that jet fuel prices in Bangladesh are higher than international standards, which contributes to comparatively higher airfares for flights operating in the country.
