Nearly 90% of students failed the admission tests of the undergraduate programs of Arts, Law, and Social Sciences in University of Dhaka for the academic year 2023-24.
Vice-Chancellor ASM Maqsood Kamal disclosed that out of 102,000 candidates, only 10,275 students met the eligibility criteria for admission, as he unveiled the results during a press conference held in the Dr. Abdul Matin Chowdhury virtual classroom in the university`s administrative building.
The admission process for Dhaka University commenced on February 23, starting with tests for the Arts, Law, and Social Science units, followed by examinations for the business education and science units on February 24 and March 1, respectively. The final phase of the admission test concluded on March 9 with the Fine Arts Unit Examination, covering General Knowledge and Drawing.
This year`s admission test witnessed intense competition, with over 279,000 students vying for 5,965 available seats across the university`s various units. With an average of approximately 47 candidates per seat, the admission process reflected a highly competitive environment.
The online application window for the admission test opened on December 18 and remained accessible until January 5. Applicants were required to pay an application fee of 1,050 taka to participate in the admission process.
