Hail and rain battered Bangladesh`s capital Dhaka on Sunday night, providing some respite from the intense heat that has been sweltering the country.
After 8:00 p.m., dust storms began to develop in several parts of Dhaka. Subsequently, a few spots in Dhaka reported receiving light rain. Rain began to fall slowly and strongly in hail, reports meteorological department.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department issued a warning for the next 72 hours starting at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
It stated that isolated west/northwesterly winds will pass across the divisions of Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet during that time. There is a chance of thunderstorms with strong winds.
The rain has also caused the temperature to dip. In Dhaka, the temperature recorded after rain around 12am on Monday was 21.4°C, while before rain around 3pm on Sunday the Dhaka temperature was 35.8°C.
