The Meteorological Department has warned that a mild heatwave is prevailing over the country’s 42 districts and may persist over the next 24 hours, potentially intensifying further.
Regions including Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, and Sylhet divisions, along with Tangail, Faridpur, Madaripur, Kishoreganj, Netrokona, Rangamati, Comilla, Noakhali, Feni, Cox’s Bazar, Bhola, and Patuakhali districts are experiencing this mild heatwave.
According to the latest report from the Meteorological Department on Wednesday morning, the synoptic situation indicates an extended mild heatwave from western Bengal to the northwest Bay of Bengal. Within the next 72 hours, scattered rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds may occur in two places of Sylhet division.
Additionally, partly cloudy to clear skies with dry weather are expected elsewhere in the country. During this period, both day and night temperatures may experience a slight increase nationwide.
Typically, temperatures ranging from 36 to 38 degrees Celsius are categorized as a mild heatwave, while temperatures between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius are considered moderate, and temperatures between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius are termed severe heatwaves. Temperatures exceeding 42 degrees Celsius are labeled as extreme heatwaves.
