Hamburg chief of police has said that the attacker was in legal possession of semi-automatic pistol since December.
Ralf Martin Meyer added at a press conference that the perpetrator shot nine magazines of ammunition during the attack targeting a Jehovah’s Witnesses event in Hamburg.
Authorities said that 50 guests were attending event in the building at the time of the attack.
A gunman killed at least seven people, including an unborn baby, at a Jehovah’s Witnesses centre in the northern German city of Hamburg on Thursday night, according to police.
The suspect was an ex-member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, prosecutors said, as a political motive was ruled out.
