The United States has deported 39 Bangladeshi nationals for residing in the country without legal documentation.
A chartered flight carrying the deportees arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Saturday morning.
An official from the Immigration Division of the Special Branch (SB) of Bangladesh Police confirmed the development to media.
According to the official, initial reports indicated that more than 50 individuals might be deported, but the final number stood at 39.
The deportation comes amid a renewed crackdown on undocumented immigrants in the US, following Donald Trump`s return to the presidency for a second term.
US immigration authorities have intensified efforts to detain and repatriate individuals staying illegally in the country.
This latest repatriation follows several similar operations in recent years, in which the US has sent back undocumented Bangladeshi nationals as part of its stricter immigration enforcement policy.
