2 more die of dengue, 565 hospitalised

Two more dengue-related deaths were recorded in the 24 hours until Tuesday morning, bringing Bangladesh’s total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease this year to 386.

During the same period, 565 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals, raising the total reported cases to 95,577 for the year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

DGHS reported new cases across the country as follows:

  • Barishal Division (outside CC): 51
  • Chattogram Division (outside CC): 82
  • Dhaka Division (outside CC): 95
  • Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC): 127
  • Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC): 88
  • Khulna Division (outside CC): 43
  • Mymensingh Division (outside CC): 45
  • Rajshahi Division (outside CC): 30
  • Rangpur Division (outside CC): 3
  • Sylhet Division (outside CC): 1

Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives across the country.

In 2023, Bangladesh experienced its deadliest dengue outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths, 321,179 cases, and 318,749 recoveries, according to DGHS data.
