A new political alliance named ‘Democratic Reform Alliance’ has been formed by the National Citizens Party (NCP), Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party), and the State Reform Movement.

The alliance was officially announced on Sunday afternoon at a press conference held at the Dhaka Reporters Unity in Segunbagicha, Dhaka.

The event was attended by NCP convenor Nahid Islam, NCP general secretary Akhtar Hossain, AB Party chairman Mojibur Rahman Manju, and State Reform Movement president Hasnat Kaiyum.

Speaking at the press conference, Nahid Islam said, “Today, we are starting a new political journey. Based on the July people’s uprising and public expectations, we three parties have joined hands to give the country a new political direction. Old politics cannot defeat dictatorship. Only the new generation with new ideas can challenge it.”

He added, “This alliance is not just an electoral coalition, it is a political alliance. It is united on issues of national dignity, economic freedom, and democratic reform. We will take part together in the upcoming national parliamentary elections and continue to work for economic and democratic reforms.”

Mojibur Rahman Manju said, “This announcement is the result of years of effort. We three parties have joined hands to start this journey. After the elections, we will continue to work for real reforms.”

Hasnat Kaiyum added, “We have started with three parties, but we believe more parties and organizations will join gradually. This alliance reflects the people’s desire for change.”

According to the leaders, the alliance aims to challenge the old political system, strengthen economic and democratic reforms, and empower the new generation in politics.
