Transport strike begins in Chattogram for tuning fare in line with fuel price

The transport strike called by Chattogram Metropolitan Transport Owners' Group has begun in the city on Saturday morning in protest of increasing fuel price without adjusting the fare.

The strike started at 6am in the morning creating immense suffering for the commuters.

Leaders of the platform said, they will continue the strike till the new fare is fixed in line with the new fuel price.

President of the association Belayet Hossain said, “The government abruptly declared the new price hike of fuel oil. The fare at public transport has to be attuned with the new fuel price. We have decided to stop running buses until the fare is adjusted.”

The government has increased prices of diesel by Tk34 per litre, octane by Tk46 and kerosene by Tk34 effective from 12am Saturday.
