Hezbollah has dismissed the possibility of any negotiations with Israel, calling such efforts ineffective ahead of expected peace talks between the two countries.

Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem said there is no room for dialogue, describing negotiations as “futile.”

He stressed that no party has the authority to move Lebanon towards talks without internal national consensus, which he said does not exist.

His remarks came as Israel is preparing to begin official peace discussions with Lebanon next week.

The development follows a first-ever phone conversation between Israel’s ambassador to the United States Yechiel Leiter and his Lebanese counterpart Nada Hamadeh Moawad over the weekend.

Addressing Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun, Qassem accused Israel of attempting to create divisions within Lebanese society.

He called for unity in confronting what he described as ongoing aggression before discussing any future political understanding.

The remarks highlight growing tension ahead of the proposed talks, with Hezbollah maintaining a firm stance against engagement with Israel.
