Bangladesh is introducing a newly designed Tk 5 currency note from Tuesday under the theme “Historical and Archaeological Architecture of Bangladesh.”
According to the Finance Division, the new note will first be available at the Motijheel office of Bangladesh Bank before being distributed across the country.
The redesigned note carries the signature of Finance Secretary Md Khairuzzaman Mozumder.
The front side of the note features an image of Tara Mosque, while the reverse side includes artwork titled “Graffiti-2024.”
Officials said the note includes several security features, including a security thread, tiger watermark and microprinted text.
The note has a light pink colour design and measures 117 millimetres by 60 millimetres.
Authorities said all existing paper notes and coins currently in circulation will remain valid alongside the new Tk 5 note.
Bangladesh Bank has also released special specimen notes for collectors through its Currency Museum in Mirpur.
