Film actor Ashraful Haque Don, an accused in the Salman Shah murder case, was arrested at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Sunday.

Airport Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamrul Hasan Talukder said immigration police detained Don at the airport and later handed him over to a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team.

Don was scheduled to leave for Saudi Arabia on a flight at around 6:50am, the OC said.

The CID is currently investigating the murder case involving popular actor Salman Shah.

Salman Shah’s maternal uncle Mohammad Alamgir filed the case with Ramna Police Station on October 21 last year. Eleven people, including Salman Shah’s former wife Samira Haque and actor Don Haque, were named as accused.

The case was filed nearly three decades after Salman Shah was found dead in 1996.

On December 7, 2025, a Dhaka court asked the authorities to submit the investigation report on January 13 in the case. Later, Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court-6 Judge Jannatul Ibne Haque accepted a revision petition and ordered that the death be investigated as a murder.

The investigation resumed following the court order.

Earlier, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) had investigated Salman Shah’s death and concluded that he had died by suicide. His family members and supporters, however, rejected the finding.
