Six children died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, while 1,063 children were diagnosed with measles or reported symptoms of the disease during the same period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in its latest measles update released on Sunday afternoon.
According to the DGHS, although six children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, no child died from confirmed measles during the period.
Since March 15, the number of deaths involving children with measles-like symptoms has risen to 775 nationwide. During the same period, another 98 children died from confirmed measles. In total, 873 children have died from measles or measles-like symptoms.
The DGHS report said 75 children were newly confirmed with measles in the past 24 hours, while 988 children developed measles-like symptoms. During the same period, 938 children were newly admitted to hospitals, while 942 were discharged after receiving treatment.
According to DGHS data, a total of 136,320 children across the country have developed measles-like symptoms since March 15. Of them, 118,382 were admitted to hospitals, while 114,142 recovered and were discharged.
The DGHS also reported that 17,115 children have been confirmed to have measles nationwide since March 15.
