Popular West Bengal actress Madhumita Sarcar is set to make her debut in Dhallywood with the upcoming film ‘Gulshaner Chameli’, directed by MD Iqbal.
Madhumita expressed her excitement while attending the film’s mahurat (launch) ceremony held at a five-star hotel in Dhaka on Saturday (August 1).
I am overwhelmed by the love and warmth I have received from everyone here. Standing in front of so many cameras and beginning my Dhallywood journey with so many talented people — I could not have asked for a better debut, Madhumita said.
She added, We have started this journey with great energy and enthusiasm, and I hope the film turns out very well. I would like to express my gratitude and thanks for giving me the opportunity to work in this film.
The film ‘Gulshaner Chameli’ officially began its journey through the mahurat ceremony. This marks Madhumita’s first appearance in a Bangladeshi film, generating interest among audiences on both sides of Bengal. She is set to play the lead role in the movie.
The film is based on the struggles and life story of a sex worker. The director said that the project will feature a number of popular actors from both Bangladesh and India.
The cast already includes Omar Sani, Amin Khan, Ashish Khandker, and legendary actress Rozina. Actress Azmeri Haque Badhon will also appear in an important role.
