Members of the joint forces detained around 20 to 25 people after armed criminals attacked a Rapid Action Battalion camp in Jungle Salimpur of Sitakunda upazila in Chattogram.

RAB-7 commander Hafizur Rahman said the detainees were being questioned and legal action would be taken against anyone found involved in the attack.

He said no deaths were reported during the exchange of gunfire, although some members of the forces suffered minor injuries.

According to the RAB official, an armed group led by Yasin and involving around 200 to 250 people carried out the attack.

He claimed the attackers damaged nearly 70 percent of an under-construction joint forces camp in the Alinagar area.

Officials said communication problems in the remote hilly area created difficulties during the operation.

RAB later brought the situation under control.

The commander also said Jungle Salimpur has long been known as a hideout for criminals and previous operations in the area faced resistance.

Earlier this year, a RAB officer was killed during an operation in the same area.
