Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has announced that the accused in the murder of the child Ramisa in Pallabi, Dhaka, will be punished within one month, and that the maximum punishment will be the death penalty.
He made the announcement on Saturday afternoon while inaugurating the 127th birth anniversary celebration of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam in Trishal, Mymensingh.
The prime minister said, The brutal death of an innocent girl in Mirpur, Dhaka, has exposed the extreme erosion of human values in society. I want to make it clear at today’s event that this government will in no way tolerate violence against children or women.
He further said the punishment would serve as a warning so that no one dares to commit such abuse against children or women in the future. He also reiterated that justice for the accused would be ensured within one month.
Tarique Rahman added, To build a safe and humane state and society, we must establish the rule of law. We must change the political culture. At the same time, we need to revive Bangladesh’s longstanding religious, social, and cultural values in our national life.
