12th national election: 3 cabinet members dropped as ruling party announces candidacy

The ruling Awami League has removed three state ministers from its list of candidates for the upcoming 12th national parliamentary elections.

These are State Ministers of Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain, State Minister of Labor and Employment Munnujan Sufian, and State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid.

Abdul Hai Akand received the party nomination in the Mymensingh-5 (Muktagacha) constituency, as opposed to KM Khalid.

The general secretary of the Muktagachha Upazila Awami League in Mymensingh, Abdul Hai Akand served as Upazila Parishad‍‍`s chairman.

SM Kamal Hossain, the Awami League Organizing Secretary, was given the party ticket in Khulna-3 instead of Munnuzan Sufian.

Zakir Hossain lost the party ticket in the Kurigram-4 constituency to Biplab Hasan, a former central leader of the Bangladesh Chattra League.

The ruling party, announced its candidate list for the 12th national parliamentary election on Sunday. The current cabinet consists of 25 ministers, 19 state ministers, and 3 deputy ministers in addition to the prime minister.
