As many as 25% of the voters casted their votes in Comilla City Corporation by-election.
However, 27% votes have been casted in the general election of Mymensingh City Corporation as of 12pm on Saturday.
Ashok Kumar Debnath, Additional Secretary of the Election Commission, reported that the 231 local government elections are proceeding without a hitch as of this morning.
An untoward incident occurred at a Comilla city polling place early in the morning. The law enforcement agencies have taken control of the situation.
The assistant secretary added that everything had gone according to plan so far with the polls in the two cities.
More than 200 positions in six local governments and municipalities, including Mymensingh and Comilla city corporations, are up for election.
On Saturday, polling was open from 8am until 4pm.
