During a May Day rally on Bangabandhu Avenue, Obaidul Quader, the general secretary of the ruling party, accused the BNP of holding the government responsible for the intense heatwave in the country. Quader questioned, "Even if people die due to lightning, is Awami League responsible for it?"

Addressing the gathering, Quader expressed concern over the rhetoric of BNP leaders, stating, "As the strength of BNP leaders‍‍` voices is decreasing, their mouths are becoming more poisonous." He highlighted the frustration among BNP leaders, some of whom have migrated abroad, and mocked their call for agitation, remarking, "Hearing their movement makes even a horse laugh."

Asserting the lack of support for BNP‍‍`s movements, Quader emphasized, "They don‍‍`t have the power of the movement. People are not with them in the movement." He warned against the potential consequences if BNP were to come to power again, alleging that the leader of the party, Tareq Rahman, seeks to control the country from London.

Quader dismissed claims of unity within BNP, stating, "Fakhrul‍‍`s relationship is heard a lot," and accused the party of being responsible for its own downfall. Referring to remarks made by Pakistan‍‍`s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Quader expressed embarrassment over BNP‍‍`s failure to acknowledge Bangladesh‍‍`s achievements and development.

Taking a swipe at BNP‍‍`s perspective on development, Quader said, "Pakistan‍‍`s prime minister can see development, BNP can‍‍`t, they are wearing dark glasses." He further accused BNP of propagating complaints against the country and engaging in foreign propaganda, remarking on the deteriorating conditions of those they complain to.

In his closing statements, Quader criticized BNP‍‍`s stance, highlighting the turmoil in American universities and President Biden‍‍`s alleged avoidance of public rallies. He urged BNP to voice their protests on the streets rather than from abroad.
