Cumilla Zila Parishad Administrator Mostak Mia on Saturday alleged that National Citizen Party (NCP) leaders Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain and Hasnat Abdullah received a total of Tk 25 crore from the revenue fund of the Cumilla Zila Parishad for development projects.

Speaking at a prayer and discussion programme marking the 45th death anniversary of former president Ziaur Rahman, Mostak Mia claimed that Tk 15 crore was allocated for projects in Muradnagar and Tk 10 crore for projects in Debidwar.

The event was held on the premises of the District Shilpakala Academy in Cumilla.

According to Mostak Mia, who is also a joint organising secretary of BNP’s Cumilla division, the money came directly from the Zila Parishad’s own revenue account.

“From the revenue sector of the Cumilla Zila Parishad, Asif Mahmud took Tk 15 crore for Muradnagar and Hasnat Abdullah took Tk 10 crore for Debidwar,” he alleged while addressing the gathering.

The Zila Parishad administrator also criticised the two political figures, claiming there was a gap between their public statements and their actions during the tenure of the interim government.

He further alleged that although they had spoken about political unity, their conduct reflected a different reality.

The allegations were made publicly during the programme. However, no documents or evidence were presented at the event to support the claims.

The allegations could not be independently verified, and there was no immediate response available from Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain or Hasnat Abdullah regarding the matter.
