Former speaker Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar passes away

Former Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar has died. He passed away at 4:19 a.m. on Sunday while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in Dhaka‍‍`s Shyamoli area. He was 94.

BNP leader Barrister Nasir Uddin Asim confirmed his death.

Hospital sources said Sircar had been receiving treatment at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital for several days due to age-related complications and other health issues. On Saturday night, Jatiya Sangsad Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaysar Kamal visited the hospital to inquire about his condition.

News of his death has prompted an outpouring of grief across the country‍‍`s political arena. Senior BNP leaders and leaders from various political parties expressed their condolences and paid tribute to the veteran politician.

According to BNP sources, details regarding his funeral prayers and burial will be announced by his family at a later time.
