5 more children die with measles-like symptoms, death toll rises to 943

Five more children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, while 1,077 children were affected by measles and measles-like symptoms during the same period.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in its latest measles situation report released on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the report, although five children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, no child died from confirmed measles during the period.

Since March 15, a total of 844 children have died across the country with measles-like symptoms, while another 99 have died from confirmed measles. In total, 943 children have died from measles or measles-like illnesses during this period.

Meanwhile, 91 children were newly diagnosed with measles in the past 24 hours, while 986 reported measles-like symptoms. During the same period, 890 children were admitted to hospitals, and an equal number were discharged.

According to DGHS data, the total number of suspected measles cases in the country has reached 151,638 since March 15. Of these, 18,578 have been confirmed as measles cases.

During this period, a total of 132,554 patients were admitted to hospitals, of whom 127,811 have completed treatment and been discharged.
