The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed at key points across Dhaka city to help maintain a stable law and order situation, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the force’s Public Relations Department.
The statement said that BGB personnel have been stationed at several locations including Dhanmondi, Shahbagh, Abarar Fahad Avenue, Banglamotor, Karwan Bazar, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, and Mohakhali.
Earlier, BGB was also deployed in five districts of the country—Cox’s Bazar, Madaripur, Sherpur, Gazipur, and Moulvibazar—following instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs, according to a press release issued Monday evening from BGB headquarters.
It added that the deployment, which began Monday evening, will continue until June 30 to help maintain internal law and order and address potential security risks in coordination with district administrations and law enforcement agencies. BGB personnel will also remain on standby for immediate deployment in other districts if needed.
