Three more children have died in the past 24 hours from measles-like symptoms across the country, while 1,135 new suspected measles cases were reported .
The information was released on Tuesday in the Directorate General of Health Services’ (DGHS) regular measles report.
According to the DGHS, the latest deaths were reported in Dhaka, Moulvibazar, and Mymensingh divisions—one in each area. With these deaths, the total fatalities from measles and its symptoms have reached 686 since March 15 up to Monday.
In the past 24 hours, 126 new confirmed measles cases were recorded nationwide, along with symptoms in another 1,009 people. This brings the total number of people showing measles symptoms since March 15 to 94,764, while confirmed cases during the same period stand at 11,297.
The report further said that a total of 78,716 patients with measles and related symptoms have been hospitalized since March 15. Of them, 74,971 have recovered and been discharged.
