Bangladesh has reported 509 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours - the highest since the last two and half month.
With the latest development, the tally of Covid-19 infections in the country now stands at 1,585,027.
The rising Covid-19 infections increase the fear of Omicron variant. On Wednesday (December 29), Bangladesh reported three more Covid-19 cases of the highly transmissible new omicron variant.
Bangladesh also logged seven more fatalities in the last day, taking the total Covid-19 fatalities to 28,070.
Meanwhile, 395 more patients during the 24-hour period throught treatment from home and in hospitals. The tally of recoveries now stands at 1,548,811.
The figures were recorded between Wednesday 8:00 am and Thursday 8:00 am.
The latest Covid-19 situation in the country was revealed by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in its routine daily statement.
In terms of deaths per division, Dhaka logged the highest number with five fatalities while Chittagong and Rajshahi counted one fatality each.
Dhaka also logged 438 cases - the highest number of cases amid all the divisions.
