The High Court has summoned director general (DG) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to appear before it on January 24 to explain the reason behind not implementing the directive to appoint 48 doctors to the vacant posts in the prisons of the country.
The HC bench comprising Justice KM Kamrul Kader and Justice Mohammad Ali passed the order on Tuesday.
Advocate JR Khan Robin appeared on behalf of his petition while deputy attorney general Abdullah Al Mahmud Bashar represented the state in the court.
Advocate JR Khan Robin said the court on December 13 last year had ordered the authorities concerned to appoint 48 doctors to the vacant posts in the prisons of the country by January 7. The doctors were not appointed yet to the vacant posts in the prisons. That’s why the court summoned the health DG to explain the reason.
Earlier on December 13 last year, the HC bench of Justice KM Kamrul Kader and Justice Mohammad Ali directed the health secretary, the secretary of the Security Services Division under the home ministry and the prison authorities to fill up the vacant posts by January 7.
