Kirstine Damkjaer, the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director of the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS), will be arriving in Dhaka for a two-day official visit on February 11 and 12.

Her visit aims to explore new opportunities for collaboration between Bangladesh and UNOPS, particularly in areas such as climate change, disaster management, and development assistance.

The goal is to identify additional areas where the two sides can work together more closely.

During her time in Bangladesh, Damkjaer will meet with senior government officials and advisers from the interim government.

UNOPS has already been working in Bangladesh in key sectors like healthcare, climate change, and building sustainable infrastructure.

One of the highlights of her visit will be a trip to the National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital (NIDCH). She will also visit one of the 29 hospitals benefiting from the PSA Oxygen Plant project.

This initiative, funded by the Global Fund and implemented by UNOPS with the support of the National Malaria Elimination Program and the Center for Disease Control, is helping provide vital healthcare resources in Bangladesh.

While visiting the hospital, Damkjaer is expected to meet with the Director General of the Health Services Department.

This visit is seen as an important step towards strengthening Bangladesh‍‍`s cooperation with the UN in tackling some of the country‍‍`s most pressing issues.
