A special train heading to Dhaka from Bhanga Railway Station in Faridpur departed on Tuesday (August 5) with only 17 passengers on board, despite having a seating capacity of 676, according to railway authorities.
The train was arranged to transport participants to the “July Declaration Reading” event in Dhaka. However, most of its coaches remained empty when it left the station at 11:23 AM.
Zillur Rahman, Station Master of Bhanga Railway Station, confirmed the low turnout, saying: “The special train had a total of 676 seats, but only 17 passengers boarded from Bhanga. Most compartments were empty.”
Sources indicate that heavy rainfall across the district may have contributed to the extremely low turnout, even though the train was specially allocated for the so-called “July Warriors.”
