Interim Government Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is scheduled to deliver a televised address to the nation tonight, Tuesday, August 5, at 8:20 PM, marking the anniversary of the historic July Mass Uprising.
The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing has confirmed the broadcast, which will be aired simultaneously on Bangladesh Television (BTV), BTV News, and Bangladesh Betar.
Earlier in the evening, at 5:00 PM, Dr. Yunus will read out the historic ‘July Declaration’ at the South Plaza of the National Parliament. The declaration ceremony will be broadcast live by Bangladesh Television.
Today marks one year since the July uprising, which saw widespread and bloody public protests that ultimately led to the resignation and exile of then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who fled to India on this day last year. The uprising paved the way for the formation of the current interim government.
One of the core responsibilities of this interim administration has been the drafting and proclamation of the ‘July Declaration’ and the ‘July National Charter’. As per prior announcements, the July Declaration will be officially unveiled today.
