In the 24 hours before today`s 8:00 am, at least four more individuals died from dengue, hospitals in Bangladesh have documented 254 new cases of dengue fever, as the nation struggles to contain a record-breaking outbreak of the disease spread by mosquitoes.
Of the four deaths, three were reported in the capital
As of now, dengue has killed at least 1,682 people and infected almost 3,19,236 others, making 2016 the deadliest year for the disease since it was first discovered in 2000.
1,741 dengue patients were receiving treatment at various hospitals throughout the nation, according to DGHS data.
Thus far this year, 3,15,991 patients have been discharged from hospitals around the nation.
Data from the DGHS show that 281 people died and 62,382 patients were hospitalized in total last year.
