In a speech during the Delhi Legislative Assembly election campaign, India`s Home Minister Amit Shah made a bold statement, announcing that Delhi would be made free of what he called "Bangladeshis" and "Rohingyas."
Shah made this declaration on Sunday, January 26, as he addressed a gathering in Delhi.
Shah didn`t hold back when criticizing the current Delhi government led by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
He accused AAP of being an "illegal income party" and claimed that the party had been involved in corruption, allegedly misappropriating thousands of crores over the past ten years.
"The actions of the AAP government have been filled with corruption," Shah said, suggesting that the party has failed Delhi`s residents.
Shah also took aim at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, specifically in connection with the excise policy case. Referring to Kejriwal`s bail, Shah remarked,
"The Supreme Court granted bail to AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, and he’s calling it a clean chit. But Mr. Kejriwal, getting bail doesn’t mean you’ve been cleared. You’ll still have to go through the entire legal process. Get ready for a long time in jail."
In his speech, Shah brought up the issue of Delhi’s large voter base from Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, two areas known for contributing a significant number of votes in the city.
He mentioned that the Delhi government had failed to clean the Yamuna River, preventing many of these people from carrying out religious rituals in the river during the festive season.
"Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal failed to clean the Yamuna River, which meant that thousands of people from the East could not perform their religious rituals in the river during the festive season," Shah stated.
Shah also promised that if the BJP comes to power, they would ensure the removal of Bangladeshis and Rohingyas from Delhi within two years.
He emphasized that the BJP is committed to ridding Delhi of illegal immigrants and ensuring the safety of the city.
However, AAP wasted no time in responding. They slammed Shah’s statement, claiming that the BJP`s focus is less on developing Delhi and more on attacking Kejriwal.
In a statement, AAP said,
"The BJP has no plan for the development of Delhi. Their focus is limited to negative campaigning. Amit Shah should answer what they’ve done in the past decade to improve the fragile law and order situation in Delhi. Their only responsibility was to secure Delhi, and they have failed in doing that."
