Dhaka police have arrested 30 individuals in Karwan Bazar and surrounding areas following a stabbing incident involving a high-ranking police officer.
On Tuesday morning, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Protection Division, responsible for Bangabhaban security, was injured during an attempted arrest of a robber.
The officer sustained a deep cut to the middle part of his right hand while trying to stop the suspect, who then fled the scene.
In response, Tejgaon Police conducted a large-scale operation in and around Karwan Bazar, resulting in the arrest of 30 individuals involved in various criminal activities, including professional robbery, theft, drug abuse, and violent crimes.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that all those arrested have been handed over to the court.
Earlier reports indicated that the incident occurred near Sonargaon Crossing at around 9:45 a.m., when a traffic sergeant noticed the suspect carrying a knife.
The officer attempted to intervene, and ADC Sumon Reza joined the pursuit. During the attempt to apprehend the suspect, the ADC was stabbed before the perpetrator escaped toward Karwan Bazar.
