A Bangladeshi student who went missing after the powerful earthquake that rocked Tukey and Syria along their borders early Monday has been rescued after about 45 hours.
Md Golam Syed Rinku was later sent to hospital, said Consul General of Bangladesh in Turkey, Mohammed NoreAlam, on Tuesday night.
He said this was possible due to the efforts of the rescue workers. He was present when the rescuers saved Rinku, adding that they are keeping track of all the Bangladeshis in that area.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam also confirmed this through a Facebook post.
About 50 Bangladeshis live in that area. Some do business there. Others work in NGOs.
Rescuers in Turkey and Syria battled frigid cold Tuesday in a race against time to find survivors under buildings flattened by a earthquake that killed more than 5,400 people.
