This morning, an explosion "caused by accumulated gas" at a residence in Rupganj upazila in Narayanganj burned a man and his wife.
According to Inspector Mostafizur Rahman, in charge of the Bhulta Police Outpost, the incident happened in a home in the Kauarchar Noyapara neighborhood of Golakandail, Uttar Pradesh, under the upazila.
The house`s occupants are the injured individuals, Jahanara, 25, and her husband Shamim Mia, 29. According to the inspector, they are currently receiving care at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital`s burn unit.
Locals said that early in the morning, they heard a big explosion coming from the couple`s house.
After saving the injured couple, they transported them to a nearby private hospital. The police official said that the pair was later moved to DMCH.
The building`s owner, Abu Musa, stated that this couple had rented the apartment three days prior.
According to Inspector Mostafizur, stored gas may have been the origin of the incident.
